Singapore Airlines Economy Class Review – Los Angeles to India via Seoul and Singapore
Review : Singapore Airlines Economy Class
Most of us think that the worst part of travelling is a long distance travelling specially when you have kids. Among all the transportation, I find travelling in a plane is a boring one and It can get challenging if travelling with a toddler.
Recently, I was planning my trip to India (From LAX) and was really worried about choosing a airline because it was my first time travelling with my lil one in a long haul flight. There were so many things running in my head as my little one was super active and was on his peaks.
After reading many child blogs and reviews, i wanted a flight which had more stops in between and luckily I laid my eyes on the Singapore Airlines which had 2 stops (Seoul and Singapore).
My check-in experience at LAX was easy and quick. I wasn’t sure if i can carry baby food (Milk, snacks, cereal etc) but still took a chance and thankfully it was all allowed. (You can also buy baby food after you check-in as there are a lot of food stores inside, which carry Milk, fruits and baby snacks).
I was the first one to enter the flight for the obvious reason “I was with a Toddler”. I parked my stroller out before boarding my flight andย as soon as i boarded the flight, one of the air-hostess welcomed me,asked for my ticket and lead me to my seat carrying my luggage (cabin bag and diaper bag). How Sweet !!!
Services :
Singapore Airlines has been on top in a list of “Best Customer Service” provided in international flights. And now I know why !!!
- By far the friendliest staff i have ever seen and they respond within seconds.
- They helped me in my luggage throughout my journey.
- Kept my little one entertained by giving him some soft toys to play.
- Took care of my son during my visits to Toilet.
- They also provide bassinets for kids under age 2 (For No extra charge).
- Gave him warm milk to drink (on asking) all the times.
- Knowing that i had a 10 hr layover at Changi airport, before landing, they gave me a Goodie bag which contains baby stuff like Daipers, Wet Tissues, lot of Baby Food,Warm Milk, Baby Drinks, Bottle of Water, Soap, Napkins, Brush & Tooth paste).
In short, They know how to do service and keep their passengers Happy #happypassenger
Baggage :
Total : 53kgs/ticket
- 2 Check-in bags : Up to 23 kgs each
- 1 Cabin bag : Up to 7 kgs
- 1 Laptop Bag/personal Item bag (handbag)
- Infant Stroller
Duration :
LAX to Seoul (Tokyo ) : 11 hrs 45 minutes
Seoul to Singapore : 7 hrs 45 minutes
Singapore to Bangalore (India) : 4 hrs 20 minutes
Layover :
Tokyo : 2hours
Singapore : 10 hrs (because there was lot to do at Changi Airport)
Class :
Economy
Seat :ย
I had a back pain and was really worried about travelling but thankfully they gave me the most comfortable seats with extra pillows.By far the widest seats i have ever seen with a huge legroom (My lil one literally played with his cars on the floor).
Entertainment :
The Singapore’s Kris world’s entertainment system offers over 1000 movies,TV shows,Games,Music etc. There were many new releases which i missed and here i covered them all.
Food :
Am not sure how many meals/snacks they serve but we had 5 meals and countless number of snacks through out the journey. I use to believe that food served on airlines doesn’t taste good but the food served here was better than i had in other airlines previously. They served Indian vegetarian meal and it was not at all bland (spicy, just how i like).
I had a 2 hour layover at Seoul and a 10 hour layover in Singapore. There wasn’t much to do at Narita International Airportย but i was really looking forward to Changi airport and that is the reason why i took a 10 hour layover. I landed at 10 pm in Changi airport and unfortunately i couldn’t cover everything as it was late at night and most of the activities/stores were closed. But I will definitely try to team up with Changi International airport in my return and share everything it has to offer for it’s travelers.
Few tips if flying with a Toddler
There will be so many things running in your head while travelling with kids(Long haul flight) for the first time. I had them TOO and was stressed out. So here are the answers for some questions or you can say some tips.
- Make sure you carry some extra clothes in your cabin bag (You never know your kids may have motion sickness).
- Carry their favorite toys/books to keep them entertained.
- Don’t worry if you have an Infant stroller(size doesn’t matter), the airlines will take care of it on NO charge.
- If ran out of milk at the airport, then just go to a coffee shop where they sell warm milk for 3$-5$ depending on your flask size.
- If ran out of milk after you board, then ask the staff to give you some.
- Most of them will give you a chilled packet of milk but you don’t need to freak out if your kids like it warm, ask the staff to warm it for you.
- Airlines doesn’t charge you for extra meal/snack/drink (totally with my experience).
- I would recommend adding stops to your flight (if it’s long haul flight).
Summary :
Overall I was happy travelling with Singapore airlines and i definitely recommended it to everyone. You can book your tickets here.

Looks like your little one had a great time! I always fly Singapore Airlines from London to SE Asia, as I like the service. Very true that there’s no charge for extra snacks, I remember flying American Airlines long haul, and they offered no snacks for free.

2x 23kg baggage allowance is huge!! I’ve never actually flown with Singapore Airlines but it sounds like I’m missing out. Definitely one to note for the future. Sounds like you had a great experience.

While it can be a bit more expensive compared to its competitors, I like Singapore Airlines for the amazing service it offers, and have often traveled using them, particularly on flights from India to South East Asia. I also found the food to be better than most airlines. Your tips on travelling with toddlers will certainly be useful for a lot of parents.

I just took a singapore airline flight from Delhi and I could agree with your review. The seats were comfy. I mean, I’m used to travelling economy class. I’m small so I don’t mind, I usually fit but this time around i had a lot of legroom ( for my size at least ) and I loved it. I also appreciated the blankets and all that because I get cold fast.

I have traveled Singapore Airlines once and I completely agree with you, they have the most friendly staff i have seen! So nice of them to help you with your luggage throughout and take care of your son when you had to leave him to go to the washroom. Singapore Airlines is one of the best airlines I’ve been on!

Travelling with toddlers can be very tricky especially if you become a victim of poor service. Anyway, I’m glad that Singapore airlines offered just the opposite to ensure your flight was marvelous! I really agree on the point of adding stop points to your flight and also having more clothing fr the kid when travelling.
