Things to do at Animal Kingdom Lodge
As I mentioned in my previous blog, You don’t need to have a park ticket to experience the magic of Disney. And Visiting Animal Kingdom Lodge comes under this category.
During my visit to the Orlando, i wanted to stay in one of the Walt Disney World Hotels and it was very hard to choose among many. I was travelling with a 2 year old son who loves animals (specially the Lions) so I decided to stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort . In which I choose to stay at The Lion King Suitย .
Here’s My Review on :
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (The Lion King Suit)
- Things to do at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
One of the benefits of staying at Disney resorts is, you will have FREE transportation to all the Disney Resorts and the Disney parks. So we hopped on a Animal Kingdom Bus which dropped us right in front of the Animal kingdom lodge.
As soon as we got off the Bus , we saw a person welcoming us with traditional African drum beat and my husband looked at me and asked “Wow !! Are we in Africa???” Like theyย even hiredย many of their staff directly from Africa to make you fell like you are in Africa.
From there we entered the lobby which was huge and wonderfully themed with tons of authentic art. There were amazing chandeliers made from tribal shields and roof made with rich woods. We went to see this resort just for the Savannah(A place where they have some exotic animals wandering in the resort) But was mind-blown with its architecture ๐
Once we got exploring the lobby and it’s beautiful art , we traveled downstairs to the outside viewing area which provided us with views of the Giraffe, zebra and ankole walking around, and rocking chairs around a fire pit to enjoy the views. While we were there, we sawย an animal expert outside talking to guests and answering questions about the wildlife and the resort.
Hereโs another beautiful picture , where you can see a giraffe and the hotel rooms in the backdrop.ย As I said , you can actually watch these animals from your balcony and who doesnโt want to wake up to a view like this??
The animals walk around freely outside and you never know what you’ll see
Some highlights of this resort –
- The Community Center in Kidani Village has free crafts
- Mini exhibits everywhere.
- Restaurant with amazing food and architecture.
- Watch the Animals anytime during day.
- Night Vision googles for everyone during night to watch these animals.
- ย Watch people dancing to the African music at the bonfire during a specific time.
- Free Marshmallow barbecue for everyone .
- Free daily tour ofย restaurants at Jambo House ,where they discuss fun details about the restaurant, it’s architecture and also give out free samples.
And to experience all the above,You donโt have to stay at the resort .Just go there and have fun for a day.
Summary :
This is one of the finest resorts I have ever been which has fairly done justice to its theme of Africa. Not just the interior but also to make you feel like you are in Africa , they hired people from Africa who share their stories, history, experiences and culture with the visitors.I would highly recommend to visit this place if you are in Orlando.

This is such a lovely resort, and trust Disney to go the extra mile to make it feel like an authentic African lodge. I like that the sound of the people dancing around the bonfire and the free marshmallows for the bbq too! Will check it out if I’m ever in Orlando.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge looks awesome! You’re right about the benefit of staying on site when visiting Disney World, you get free transportation. I love how they’ve implemented the African theme at the hotel and the fact that you have animals in the area to watch during day or night is pretty cool!
