Visiting Secret Swing at Elysian Park
Secret Swing at Elysian Park
These days I am totally obsessed with the swing photography(overlooking some amazing views) doing rounds on the Instagram so I thought of googling it if I have any such swings in Los Angeles and Luckily I found this Secret Swing at Elysian Park.
As the name itself say, it’s actually one of the best kept secrets of Los Angeles as many of them have no idea about this place. You will find many people (sometimes crowded) at the park and not at this swing.
Parking & Location :
It actually took more than an hour for us to find this spot but it is just a 5 minute drive from the dodger stadium if you follow the path i have shown here –ย Click on this google map to get the exact location of the secret swing.
This is a turn(exact location shown above in the google map) with few parking spots on Elysian Park Drive. You can park your car here for FREE, and from this location its just 5 minute walk and a short hike to the Secret Swing. The trail is very steep and slippery so make sure you wear some sturdy shoes.
The Swing :
The swing was totally at the edge of the hill which is good to take some amazing pictures but I personally found the swing a bit dangerous as it had no safety.I actually expected it to be with a security guard or at least safety bars surrounding the swing to avoid unfortunate accidents but there were no one except for me ,my son and my husband. There were no security bars too. If accident happens then you will land on the 110 freeway which is really dangerous.
So we decided not to swing but just sit and click a picture. Luckily at some angle , we managed to get a Instagrammble shot.

Summary :
This a great spot for beautiful pictures overlooking 110 freewayย or I can say for some breathtaking Instagrammable pictures but It was quite adventurous for us (I can say dangerous too) and would not recommend going here alone or after sunset.

Interesting! Now everyone is going to know about it LOL Is it owned by the city or does someone own it? Cool pics!

If it was owed by the city then they would have arranged some security there. As I saw no security , I believe some hikers would have made it

This looks like an incredible spot. I personally love swing photography. Enjoyed shooting lots of it at Bali. This one looks great but scary too. Hope they do something about the safety.

It is certainly a good photo op but sorry to hear that there are no safety measures taken around it and no guard or anyone present, in case of any issues! I know what you mean by swings doing rounds on Instagram, I’ve been seeing the one in Bali a lot, it looks amazing ๐

Its an awesome photo despite it not being safe. Glad that you didn’t swing on it. Not sure ending up on the freeway below is a good idea.

Such a beautiful spot, I cannot even imagine how many pictures I would take there. I should start looking at secrets swings around Italy too ๐

Beautiful spot, and it’s always great to here about things like this hidden swing. It is a bit concerning that an accident here could be so dangerous, but I’m still happy to see your photos!

I too love these kind of hidden beauties of a place. You have spotted a nice photogenic place near Los Angeles and had given all vital information to reach here. I would love to take many photos as this location. You had taken great shots with swing and view.

I love finding secret spots and also have an inclination for swings, though never searched for them in my travels, maybe I should. This one seems a dangerous one, I remember riding a similar one in India ages ago but that was a part of a theme park so totally safe. This is good for Insta-worthy pics, but for kids I wouldn’t take the risk, did your son ride it, (fingers-crossed) I hope not ๐

Wow! Your picture with the swing is simply stunning and definitely instagrammable! The view from the top looks beautiful and I really love the location of the swing. Great for some amazing clicks but not for swinging considering there were no safety bars no security guards around.
